about
insomnabubble is a six-minute rhapsody that captures the surreal feeling of meeting up with someone after dark who you're secretly in love with. It invites the listener into the insular, paranoid world of nighttime, where the streets are silent and empty except for you. The song begins with quiet, routine, and simplicity, but builds into a desperate ballad, then decomposes into a soft, sad, dreamy outro.
lyrics
Watch, watch, watch the moon
I don't trust us alone
So, so cold it burns
White milk splashing on your back
You came to me at night
You came to me at night
Look, look at your face
Can't be sure it's really you
And there you were up against the moon
Warm brown skin steaming like a spoon
Silver spoon removed from mug
We can kiss but never hug
Kiss but never hug
We don't like our clothes too tight
When we walk around at night
We prefer them baggy
Smoking in the alley
We don't like each other's friends
We don't fight, we just pretend
Pretend we aren't angry
And then we won't be lonely
I stood behind you like a ghost
Rested my chin on your shoulder
You're my favorite friend
You're my favorite friend
You tie knots around your heart
Cry when they won't come apart
Let me lend a hand
I can lend a hand
Ooh, ah
Ooh, ah
We kept thumbing on the light
But there was so much wind that night
Cupped your hands around the site
But there was so much wind that night
